Do you then believe in local Universities for local children? Local schools for local children is selfish. Education is funded by national taxation and not local taxation. Every child has a right to attend any school and not just local children.

Children could go to universities by themselves using public transport or their car. When I have to take my child to primary school also carrying the sibling in the buggy and have to use public transport, then yes I want a local school and I believe a lot of mums would agree with me.
